Paolo Frascati

Paolo Frascati was born in Salò in 1969. For the artist, sculpture is a language made up of signs and fragments that he reinterprets using strong and compact materials. His artworks are generated by the union between the perception of the world and the modeling of matter. Frascati molds the sensations, emotions and feelings perceived externally in a narration made of sign and gestures. After studying at the Art Institute of Gargnano, near Brescia, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in the sculpture section.

His training took place under the guidance of the master Giancarlo Franco Tramontin and he studied ceramics with the sculptor Mariano Fuga. In 1992, the year of his diploma, he received the sculpture prize in memory of the sculptor Alberto Viani. Frascati’s works move between the figurative and the abstract, in the research of a human individuality and its intimate being.

There is no planning behind the artist’s creations but it is precisely the material used, iron, that determines its development. It is the slow corrosion of the material and the uncertain mutability over time that give the sculptures a soul. Just like the human feelings that arise in a moment of intense involvement and then, with time, transform. Frascati’s works lose the immediate sensitivity of the creative act to carry an individual and intimate sensation, following the direction of maximum expressiveness.

Since 1989 he has exhibited in many collective and personal exhibitions, obtaining prizes and awards at important international and national exhibitions, among others: Nizza, Gorizia, Carrara, Valencia, Salò, Treviso, Vicenza, Mestre, Trieste, Venice, Udine.

Paolo Frascati lives and works in Venice. His works are in museums and private collections in Italy and abroad.
